Description: It forms dense hollow circular colonies of ten or more heads from rosettes that point outward, not upward 1-2 m in diameter. It begins with a single plant that continuously divides to become aprofusion of fleshy leaves , growing outwards in ever increasing circles, while the original deads. This gives rise to its common name, the kraal aloe.
Stem: Acaulescent or very short decumbent up to 10(-20) cm long.
Rosettes: Clustered, ± asymmetrical, up to 60 cm wide, with upright grey-green leaves to 45 cm long, edged with widely spaced large teeth.
