Agave mckelveyana
This species is rarely is used as ornamentally, but plants in collection presents few problems of cultivation.
Very similar to and usually difficult to distinguish from Agave deserti var. simplex.
Origin and Habitat: Arizona (Southwestern U.S.A., Northern America)
Grows in open rocky slopes and dry scrubland between 900 and 1800 m.

Description: Small, relatively rare, dwarf species that forms a tight rosette similar in size and shape to Agave desertiSN|482]]SN|482]] var. simplex.
Leaves: Stiff, bluish green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation: It is tolerant of drought and severe freezes.
Propagation: Relatively easy to propagate by seeds or by suckers (if available) Remove the basal suckers in spring or summer and let the cuttings dry for a few days before inserting in compost.. only problem is the logistics of getting to the suckers - very sharp spines and suckers usually right up against, or underneath the mother plant.
